If your business isn’t doing as well as you’d imagined – or hoped – it would be by now, it’s not your fault. It’s in the name. “Business”…or ‘busy-ness’.

Many of the entrepreneurs I’ve met (and, admittedly, myself at times) seem to assume that, if we’re ‘busy’, we’re doing things right. After all, isn’t busy the hallmark of success in our modern, harried times?

I attend many networking events and find it interesting how people respond to “How are things?”, or “How are you?”, or “What’ve you been up to?”, or “How’s business?”. The answer, almost without exception, is “Good. BUSY!” And the reply “Yeah, me too.”

We can be busy – and likely all are very busy. There are SO many ways to be busy (in our work and lives), to fill our days with things that may not move us toward our goals…or not as well as possible. The big question is, “busy doing what?”. Is it things that will best move you toward your goals and dreams?

In the language of Steven Covey, are you working on the “important” things (or, at a minimum, the “urgent”, which are hopefully also important)? Or are you doing ‘busy work’ – for example, scrolling through social media feeds (what I call ‘rabbit holes’) for what can add up to hours a day, and often at your most energetic & productive times of day? Or checking email more often than is really necessary – instead of perhaps only 2 to 4 times a day and shutting it off otherwise? Or any number of other distractions, which can be compounded if you work from home (a topic for another time).

Are you procrastinating and putting off those things that would actually move the needle on your business (or career)? NO JUDGEMENT here. I have certainly been there too!

If any of this sounds like you, I invite you to not ‘should’ on yourself – as in, “I ‘should’ do better”, “I ‘should’ be able to focus more”, “I ‘should’ _____ (fill in the blank)”. Instead of berating yourself, it is important to get to the root cause of the procrastination or busy work. What is the REASON? Is it not the right business (or career) for you (or are certain aspects not right)? Is there a misalignment with your core values that prevents you from doing what you need to do? Perhaps you feel you don’t know how to do certain pieces of the work so you don’t do anything (sales, for example). Or you may have a lack of confidence, or a fear of failure, catastrophizing what that means and its true impact.

Perhaps you lack a mentor or appropriate confidante with whom you can discuss these things – freely, without judgement, confidentially, where YOUR AGENDA is the only agenda, and personal relationships don’t cloud or skew the conversation.

One way to move beyond these challenges is by working with a Professional Coach.

I have room in my calendar for a couple new clients at this time. If you are serious about changing the trajectory of your business (or career) and / or life, and are willing to make the necessary changes (in alignment with YOUR values, YOUR priorities, YOUR responsibilities), I invite you to CONTACT ME for a complimentary consultation. No obligation. I will do my best to help you get clarity on what you want, what’s working and not, and some steps to move forward. And, at the end of our call, if it’s a fit, I will offer you information on how I can support you further. No pressure. Your decision. At a minimum, you will leave the call having been truly heard and having clarity on what’s next for you.

To reiterate:
(1) I have only a couple openings in my calendar right now so, once they’re gone, you’ll have to go on a waiting list.
(2) This if for people who not only want change but are also willing to change. There is a difference.

(3) Take action. If this is for you, contact me asap.
