If you’re like me, you may want to know some of the details. I’ve tried to anticipate your questions:
Q When does the program start and how long does it run?
A The program starts the first week of July and runs to September 14. However, there are 11 weeks in that time from which you can select 8. (NOTE: I will NOT be available the week of August 6-10.) So, we can start a bit later OR you may have a vacation we need to work around.
And, depending on where we are in the conversation and the walk, sessions are expected to run about 30-45 minutes each. (You can let me know if you need to keep it tight on a given day.)
Q What times are available?
A I’m envisioning that many will want this to be a lunch-time thing, and that’s great! However, especially for entrepreneurs, you may prefer mid-morning, mid-afternoon, etc. I’m open to discussing different times and, ideally, fitting in as many sessions as I can around my other responsibilities. What works for you?
Q What do I need to bring?
A Just whatever you need to be comfortable. Comfy footwear, sweater / jacket, sunglasses, water, a notebook or phone to jot (or dictate) quick notes if you like. I’ll bring the sunscreen!
Q What if it’s raining (or scorching hot)?
A Generally, this is a “rain or shine” program – we’re not ‘fair-weather walkers’, are we!?! However, if the weather is very inclement, we’ll make a judgement call together on whether we walk, conduct that session by phone, or postpone to another date (schedule permitting).
Q What if I don’t live in the Halifax area?
A No worries! If you have a smart phone and ear buds, we can do it ‘virtually’ – you walk in your area and I’ll walk in mine, and we can talk while we walk. (We don’t care what the neighbours think, right? 🙂 )
Q What if I have something very private to discuss?
A If, on a given week, there is something particularly private that you want to discuss (where someone walking past would be a concern for you), no problem. At your request prior to our session, we can take that discussion indoors – either in a face-to-face meeting in the vacinity we normally walk or, even better, take that session by phone from the privacy of a space you’re comfortable with. And I’ll be in my private office, protecting your confidentiality as well.
Q Where will we walk?
A It depends on where you are. If you’re within the core HRM area, I’d suggest the Bedford waterfront, Halifax waterfront, a lakeside trail, etc. However, locations will be firmed up depending on the participants’ preferences and locations. And, if you have a favourite spot you like, let me know – I’m always open for new favourite places to walk!
Q What will we talk about?
A As always with my private coaching clients, the agenda is YOURS! You tell me what you want to work on and that’s where we’ll go. It could be any (or a combination) of a variety of things:
- How to best run my business?
- How to grow it / manage what you have / scale it back?
- How to navigate a career in the modern business world?
- How to manage challenging relationships?
- How to show develop my leadership style as a woman in business?
- How to put ME back on my priority list?
- How to get more done in less time, and still have energy left over for some FUN? (I love this one!)
Q What if I’m on vacation for a week or two?
A Awesome! I hope you ARE! We can work around that. That’s why it’s an 8-week program spanning 11 weeks. If there is a week or two you’re away, simply let me know (minimum of 24 hours in advance) and we’ll schedule around it. (To that point, I’m on vacation the week of August 6-10 so that week will be unavailable for coaching. See how that works? 🙂 )
Q What if I love this but can’t (or don’t want to) do the ‘walk’ part?
A I believe in ‘meeting people where they’re at’ so, if walking doesn’t work for you, we can do a sit-down version. If you don’t mind, though, I may still stand in my office if we are coaching by phone vs. in person. 🙂
Q What will we wear? (How rigorous will this be?)
A Again, it’s your call. If you want this to be a power walk, let’s lace up and do it! (I’ll do my best to keep up to you. 🙂 ) If, on the other hand, you’re coming from the office and will be returning afterwards, we may keep it to a more moderate-don’t-need-a-shower-afterwards pace.
Q What if weekly is too much for me? Can I do bi-weekly?
A I strongly advise weekly for a number of reasons – including the momentum of the coaching support as well as the fitness and fun. However, if that’s too much for you, we can discuss a bi-weekly option too.
